#TogetherForAbortion

January 22, 2016 is the 43rd anniversary of Roe v Wade and pro-choice Americans are getting #TogetherForAbortion in all fifty states. Sign up below to host (or attend) an event on this day to join this critical shift in the way our culture talks about abortion.

Plan an Event

Help us get #TogetherForAbortion by hosting an event on 1/22. Our goal is to have an event in every state. If you decide to make your event public, we’ll add it to the events displayed below.

  • Don’t think too hard about which event type to check. We’re just using this info to track the number of conversations in each state in order to share the broad impacts of this day.

  • Event website, Facebook, or contact email for RSVPs.
  • If you decide to make your event public, your type of event, name of event, link, description, city, and state will be public in events below.

  • This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.

Attend a Public Event

Get #TogetherForAbortion on 1/22! In addition to the public events listed here, there are over 100 private events happening in homes and communities across the country. If no public events are listed in your area, sign up to host your own private event. Dinner or Drinks

Who wants to get together with me Friday 1/22 to toast Roe v. Wade's guarantee of safe and legal abortion and talk openly and freely about the impact reproductive choice has had on our lives and the importance of keeping it intact in the future?* One of the biggest challenges to freedom of choice is the stigmatization of abortion specifically and birth control generally. It's much easier to convince folks to go along with taking our rights away if those rights are framed as icky rights for slutty/gross people. Not on my watch! Join me at MiniBar Hollywood Friday 1/22 6-9pm. Delicious drinks, great atmosphere, and friendly ladies and dudes who want to make sure everyone who has a uterus gets to decide what gets in there and what stays in. Heaven. MiniBar Hollywood 6141 Franklin Ave Los Angeles, CA 90028 (inside the Best Western) *We can also talk about other things. It's a celebration, not a rally.

I have my own idea!
Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016 Sign waving 5:00 – 5:30 (signs provided or bring your own) Celebration to follow at Lexi’s The courageous work of countless individuals came to fruition in 1973 when the U.S. Supreme Court handed down its decision on Roe v. Wade, legalizing abortion. Advocates of choice across the nation celebrated the end of back-alley abortions and their tragic consequences. Join us on Jan 26th to pause and remember the dangerous lengths women had to take to end pregnancies prior to Roe v. Wade. We must vow never to return to those dark days. Women must retain control over their bodies and their lives. The extension of government and the law into a woman's private life is unacceptable and unconstitutional. No one, including our Florida politicians has the right to make decisions for women on the basis of their own religious beliefs.

I have my own idea!
Come celebrate the 43rd Anniversary of Roe v. Wade with NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon! FEATURING: Dr. Patricia Kullberg reading from her 2015 novel "Girl in the River" with a historical slideshow of portland from that era! 'Girl in the River' is a portrait of the intimate lives of women during one of the most corrupt periods in Portland history. It tells the tale of post-war assaults on reproductive rights and is a tribute to two remarkable and remarkably different women who shaped the lives of Portlanders during those tumultuous times: Dr. Ruth Barnett and Mayor Dorothy Lee. A #TogetherForAbortion timeline to share your own experience in repro health from Roe until present day Portland! Seattle-based activist group #ShoutYourAbortion are engaging groups from all 50 states to get #togetherforabortion ! Set in a dystopian future (which feels a lot like the mid 1990s), Denim Doves is a collaboratively devised feminist farce that explores themes of women in subjugation and the hilarious consequences of a rigid dick-tatorship. Planned Parenthood presents It’s Our Right: 43 years of Legal Abortion

1119 Eighth Avenue
seattle, Washington 98101

Storytelling Event
Recent attacks on Planned Parenthood locations, national talk of defunding the organization, and allegations of the sale of fetal tissue here in Washington, have thrust the group into the spotlight. This celebratory event, hosted by Lindy West, will recognize a woman’s reproductive choice and the 43rd anniversary of Roe v. Wade (the Supreme Court case upholding a woman’s right to access abortion). The evening will bring together storytellers from across the state to commemorate this landmark decision (including Amelia Bonow of #ShoutYourAbortion) and help destigmatize abortion and those who choose it. Learn about this constitutionally-protected (and controversial) right and show support for reproductive freedom.
